Set or change your home & work addresses Computer Google Maps Help

Check back in a few months or so to see if your house or a particular address has been added to Street View. Most major urban areas, particularly in the U.S., have been mapped on Street View, but that doesn't mean that every house, road, or building will show up when you search for it. Some rural areas are still being mapped.

I think they eventually want to sell houses, but for those not in the market for a house, there is still this useful and interesting Google maps application. So far Zillow has no strings attached. The Zestimate’s accuracy depends on location and the availability of data in an area. For off-market homes, the median error rate is 7.52%. Check your home value estimate for free by entering your home address. You can improve the accuracy of your Zestimate by claiming the address as your home and updating the home details.

Navigate to Instant Street View on a web browser and begin typing the name or address of a location in the search box. I checked a house that I know is being sold right now and the estimate was at least 25% too high. The other information seemed OK, but as someone said I think it might not work as well in mixed markets.

Still, it's nice to see their listings for all the houses in the neighborhood. A useful tool, if combined with a number of others that give more accurate estimates. In my county, Westmoreland, PA, tax assesments have very little to do with the value of property.
